HEAD HOUSEKEEPER – HANDS-ON LEADERSHIP ROLE

Stardust Motel | Wallace, Idaho
42-Room Independent Motel | Full-Time, Year-Round
$17.00–$19.00/hour DOE

We like personality. We also really, really like clean rooms.

Since new ownership in 2022, Stardust Motel has built a reputation for exceptional cleanliness, friendly service, and a guest experience that can hold its own against the big branded hotels.

We are independent, vintage, a little quirky, and definitely NOT corporate.

But non-corporate does not mean no structure! We have training, checklists, policies, procedures, room inspections, and cleaning standards. We expect our team to follow them.

We are looking for an experienced Head Housekeeper who notices the hair in the corner, the crooked bed skirt, the linen closet running low, AND the housekeeper who needs a little coaching.

Someone who can keep the housekeeping team organized, communicate effectively, support their coworkers, and roll up their sleeves to get the job done.

This position reports directly to the Assistant General Manager (AGM).

The Hands-On Part Matters!

We are a 42-room independent motel , not a big corporate hotel.

Our Head Housekeeper takes their own room board every day while working alongside the housekeeping team. No clipboard-only supervisors here!

Our housekeeping team is expected to complete 10–12 rooms per housekeeper between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. , meeting our cleaning and room-time standards.

You will work alongside your team while helping them succeed through training, coaching, and accountability. The goal is to develop housekeepers who take pride in completing their own work—not depend on someone else to finish it for them.

What You Will Do

• Take and complete your own daily room board while supporting the housekeeping team.
• Assign daily room boards, monitor productivity, inspect rooms, and maintain cleaning standards.
• Participate in daily morning huddles alongside the AGM, Housekeeping, and Front Desk.
• Train, coach, motivate, and support housekeeping team members.
• Help maintain accountability for cleaning standards, productivity, and room quality.
• Participate in interviews and help train new employees.
• Supervise laundry operations and ensure linens keep pace with occupancy.
• Keep housekeeping carts, linen closets, and work areas stocked, clean, and organized.
• Maintain department readiness at the beginning and end of each day.
• Monitor supplies and communicate ordering needs to the AGM before shortages occur.
• Communicate room status, staffing concerns, and maintenance needs promptly.
• Work closely with Front Desk, Maintenance, and the AGM.
• Become fully cross-trained to work Front Desk shifts independently when needed.
• Reinforce basic First Aid, Human Trafficking Awareness, and workplace safety procedures with the team.

We want someone who leads by example, communicates solutions instead of just problems, and helps build a housekeeping team that takes pride in doing things right.

What Happens in the Winter?

Things slow down, but we do not!

During the off-season, everyone pitches in with property projects such as deep cleaning rooms, carpet cleaning, painting, organizing, inventory, raking leaves, shoveling snow, and general property upkeep.

The Head Housekeeper continues supporting the housekeeping team, cleaning assigned rooms, and helping with Front Desk operations.

Flexibility and teamwork are a big deal here.

What We Are Looking For

Required:

• Minimum 2 years of recent Head Housekeeper or comparable hotel housekeeping leadership experience .
• Experience training, supervising, and supporting housekeeping teams.
• Strong room inspection, cleaning, and productivity knowledge.
• Ability to clean your own assigned room board while supporting the housekeeping team.
• Organized, dependable, professional, and a strong communicator.
• Comfortable learning Front Desk operations and working independently.
• Weekends and holidays are a MUST.
• Willingness to help wherever needed.

Preferred: Hotel PMS experience, basic computer skills, inventory management, and preventative maintenance knowledge.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs, perform daily room cleaning duties, safely use cleaning equipment and chemicals, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Schedule, Pay & Benefits

• Pay: $17.00–$19.00/hour DOE - single unit housing available
• Position: Full-Time, Year-Round (35+ hours per week)
• Typical Hours: 8:00 a.m.–4:00 or 5:00 p.m.
• Busy Season (May–October): Typically 5–6 days per week
• Slower Season: Typically 4–5 days per week
• Weekends and holidays required
• Additional hours or days may be needed based on occupancy and staffing.
• Optional 30-minute unpaid lunch
